Educational Scholarships

 

 Graduating High School Seniors

Scholarships are available here!

Deadline for applications March 1, 12 Midnight!

Here is what we offer to qualifying high school seniors:

$1,000 scholarships funded over a four year period.
(The applicant with the highest evaluation score can qualify for a bonus award.)

Qualifications are simple:

1.  You have to really need the help.
 Total family income cannot exceed four times the Federal Poverty Level for the number of family members living in the household for the current year. Check the guide on the “US HHS Guidelines” page or go to URL: http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/12poverty.shtml

2.   The applicant must submit a “Free Application for Federal Student Aid” (FAFSA). A copy of your student Aid Report must accompany your application

3.   A minimum GPA OF 2.5 at graduation

EDDI (Education, Determination, Dedication, Inspiration)

The Family Foundation 4 Learning has adopted as a wholly owned subsidiary, the EDDI (Education, Determination, Dedication, Inspiration Inc) organization together with all of its plans and aspirations. Though EDDI is its own organization, all of its decisions are ratified by the Foundation Board of Directors. The EDDI primary purpose is to raise financial literacy awareness among students preparing for college.
Mission Statement
To promote awareness among targeted pre-college students for opportunities to further their higher education with a focus on financial literacy.
 

Corporate Sponsorship

We received our first corporate sponsorship of a four year scholarship for a deserving high school senior in need. The sponsor is the American Institutes For Research (AIR)  in Washington, D. C. The amount of the award is $1,000.00.

This scholarship was named for its donor, The American Institutes for Research Scholarship for High School Seniors. It was a four year scholarship of $250.00 per year available to the student who applied, qualified and was selected. Maintenance of all requirements have been required to receive the funds annually.

This scholarship was presented to Iesha W. Gadsden, 2013 graduating class Valedictorian from Spingarn High School in Washington, D. C.

2014

The Family Foundation 4 Learning attended a Family Reunion in Peoria, Illinois for one of the founding families of this foundation. The World’s Largest Sturdivant Family Reunion was attended by over three hundred and Fifty family members in July of 2014 in Peoria, Illinois. We were accep[ted as a future recipient of funding for scholarships from this group.

2015

On September 1, 2012, Syna Sturdivant joined hundreds of walkers in the Disney Family Fun walk at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA. A full announcement is on the "Syna's Walk 2012" Page of this web site. The deadline for donations has been extended to the end of October 2012. 

Four additional outstanding high school graduates have received awards in 2012. They are Edwin R. Ochoa of Los Angels, CA, Nikeila C. Jensen of Moorpark, CA, Amber D. Baker of Los Angeles, CA and Levi Moellering of Moorpark, CA. All of these students exemplify the criteria of the F.A.M.I.L.Y. Foundation and are the top four students of our evaluation process. BDSNM (Bidgood, Dargan, Sturdivant, Nance, McClain) Family Foundation will now be known as The F.A.M.I.L.Y. (Family for the Advancement of Matriculation In Learning Youth) Foundation.

Fundraiser walks for the BDSNM Family Foundation!
On September 4, 2010 Syna Sturdivant will walk in the Disneyland 5k Fun Run/Walk at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California.
Syna has asked her friends and family to make donations to this foundation in support of her walk.

Latest NEWS FLASH Additions:
We have added new pages that speak to the June graduates.
  1. The first new page is called "Scholarships Bulletin". Its a flyer about our scholarship offerings available to current high school graduates.If you are graduating from high school in June with a G.P.A. of 2.5 or better check out the flyer.
  2. The next new page is called "Scholarship Criteria" which includes all of the basic criteria to qualify for scholarship consideration.
  3. The third new page is called the "US HHS Guidelines" found on the Scholarship Criteria page. This page contains the U.S. Health & Human Services Dept Federal Poverty Guidelines. It is here for your convenience since qualification for our scholarships is tied to these guidelines. 
  4. There is now a separate page for College Scholarship information that contains both the instructions and application for college scholarships.
  5. Family Financial Aid also now has its own page containing both instructions and application for assistance.

 Our Latest addition to the website is another page and a new application with instructions. Under the "Services" page there is now a "Family Financial Assistance" page. This new page gives a quick summary of the services available to families in need. The application and instructions for its completion are on the "Applications" page. If you would like to sponsor a Family in Need please contact us and we will help you determine how best to accomplish your goal.
 
We are very pleased that we have now added two new pages to this website under the "Services" page, Educational Assistance and Applications.

     This page will contain applications for assistance and instructions for completing 
     those applications listed.
3. The first application available is for "College Scholarship".
     The student applying must complete and return the application before the deadline
     in order to be considered.
 
We have initiated two new ways for you to support this work.
1. Advertising space for business sponsorship
     Simply send us an email at contact@family4learning.org to start the process.
2. Career site for applicants and for employers
      a. Applicants send your resume preferably in MS Word format to our email address.
      b. Employers send the job description to our email address with application
          instructions.
     If we have an immediate match we will make the connection.
     We will otherwise list each entry on the appropriate page.
     All personal and sensitive information will be witheld. 
     Applicants may apply directly to the employer when they see a position of interest.

For a donation of any size we will send you one of these lovely pins.
They look exactly like the logo. Upon receipt of your donation we aill send you a confirmation noting the tax deductible status of your contribution you can use with your tax return. Stay tuned.....BFF apparel is coming soon!
